Inspired by designs popular in the 19th and early 20th century, this 50 pipe chart is a tribute to the craftsmanship and innovation of pipemakers throughout history. The shapes follow commonly accepted guidelines of briar (wood) pipemaking, many of which evolved from earlier pipe styles made from clay, horn, and stone. By continuing that tradition I hope to strengthen the human connection to the pipe as a functional tool, object of beauty, and universal symbol of peace, thoughtfulness, reliability and contentment.
